- PUBLIC NOTICE: The Hagerstown/Eastern Panhandle MPO hereby notifies all interested persons that the DRAFT WV Route 9 Bicycle Path Connectivity Plan is available for comment and review. The DRAFT Plan summarizes existing conditions, different route options, public survey results, proposes a preferred alternative, and identifies potential funding sources. The public comment period will be from April 15 to May 15, 2026. Those persons wishing to review the DRAFT Plan will find a copy at the Charles Town Library, may download a copy at hepmpo.com, or may request a copy by contacting the HEPMPO office, located at 226 Pilot Way, Suite E, Martinsburg, WV 25405. Business hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Questions and all written comments should be directed to Matt Mullenax at 240-313-2081, [email protected] or at the office address. In addition, one hybrid public meeting on the DRAFT Plan will be held from 6:00-7:00pm on May 7, 2026 in the Ranson City Hall Council Chambers at 312 South Mildred Street, Ranson, WV 25438. - Direction 2055, the latest update to the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), is in development.
- SURVEY OPEN: The Hagerstown/Eastern Panhandle Metropolitan Planning Organization (HEPMPO) is a federally mandated multi-modal transportation planning organization assigned to assist the Washington (MD), Berkeley (WV) and Jefferson County (WV) regions in planning for future transportation needs. The Long Range Transportation Plan is seeking input on regional priorities, new and planned highway, transit, bicycle and pedestrian projects and public insights on safety, freight, congestion and quality of life.In order to gain insight about present and future transportation needs the Region, we are asking YOU to help us identify specific issues, concerns and thoughts regarding transportation in the area.The HEPMPO, in cooperation with local and state agencies, has developed an online survey that seeks input on road improvements, transit routes, sidewalks, traffic, bike paths, maintenance concerns, accessibility and mobility issues. Please take the survey at https://metroquestsurvey.com/ox8t8jfrom April 1st until April 30th to help us.In addition we will be holding three public meetings (with virtual option) to discuss the plan update and receive input:
